Dividing signs into exterior and interior categories can be handy because there are few signs that should be exactly the same regardless of where they’re going to be used. Exterior signs have to contend with many factors that don’t apply to interior signs. Durability and the ability to stand up against the occasionally harsh Four Corners weather is key for exterior signage.
Exterior signage also tends to be focused more on promotion and marketing than interior. Of course there are standard informational exterior signs, such as those used to state policies, rules and parking hours.
